Problems with uploading

I couldn't upload my magazine to my blog at first because it was in the wrong format so I went to see my teacher Mr Swain and the answer is to export the file from the Photohsop format to a jpeg image.

Comparing my magazine to another school magazine

In this post I will be comparing my own interpretation of a school magazine to another school magazine however this magazine is actually on sale to the public.
The similarities of the magazines are:
- I have used sell lines on the front of my magazine to either promote the positive aspects of my school or what may feature in the magazine.
-I have also put the slogan for our school as a header and footer on the page spread to reiterate the school theme and I have thought that the banner would be the first thing that the buyer would see so they would instantly recognise the school slogan.
- I have also used a mid shot on my front page as well as the other magazine however mine is of a student where as the other magazine has an image of the school's yearbook.

The differences between the magazines are:

- I have used a darker colour scheme because I planned to use the school colours even though they are quite dark where as the other magazine hasn't used their 'school colours' therefore the colour scheme is quite bright.
- The mid-shot on the other magazine is of the school year book but mine is of a student.
- There are more special effects on the other magazine because they might have had access to a wider range of programmes.
- The price is displayed as well as a competition being advertised.

I would adapt the big, bold title line from the other magazine to use in my magazine as well as using the technology that was used here to create all the fonts on the page.

My School Magazine

This is my completed school magazine for the preliminary task of the course. In a later post I will be comparing this to an actual/ well known school magazine.
In my opinion I feel the the good points of my magazine are that I have demonstrated the positive aspects of my school through the front cover (e.g. the percentage pass rate) as well as using the sell lines to provide a hint of what might appear inside the magazine. I am also proud of using the banners to present the school's slogan to reiterate the 'school magazine' theme as well as that being the first thing that the buyer will so therefore they will hopefully recognise the school logo.
However the bad points of my magazine are that I have used quite a dark colour scheme because I was trying to incorporate my school colours but it gives the front cover quite a dull look. I also could have put more information on the front cover as well to make it more appealing to the reader to know what might be inside.
In conclusion I fell that even though my magazine may fit the criteria for the preliminary task and have a professional look I feel that I may also be perceived as boring with not a lot of content on the front cover. If I was to re-do this then I would take into consideration all that I have learnt in lessons (such as adding more sell lines, changing the house style and maybe adding some pugs (random boxes around the edges of the page with text or an image in them)

First Post

My name is Louise charity and I am currently studying AS Media at Southfields School for Girls. This is my new blog to show you what I am doing in AS Media (and so Mr Swain can see if I'm actually doing any work...) I have started making a draft for my Preliminary task and I am going to use technology (such as photoshop) to develop it more.
